Freshwater pearls are best known for their large variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Most traditional freshwater pearls are round to slightly off round. Grown in warmer fresh water, as opposed to saltwater, freshwater pearls have medium to high lustre. Freshwater pearls are a great alternative to 'Akoya' cultured pearls, and will last a lifetime.
