Diamond Buying Tips
We GUARANTEE that our diamonds are conflict free. Based on personal knowledge, or written guarantees provided by our diamond suppliers, we purchase our diamonds from legitimate sources in compliance with United Nations resolutions.
Based on our experience of buying and selling diamonds, we have several suggestions, which may help in the selection process of your diamond purchase with regard to colour, clarity and cut. Many of our customers appreciate some guidance in obtaining the best value for money when choosing the most suitable diamond for their particular needs.
Deciding on the shape is the first step in the diamond selection process. Everyone has a special attraction to a certain shape and it is extremely important to determine this first as the shape can effect the final price dramatically.

If you want to maximize the diamond purchase, while limiting the amount of money spent to a given budget, then we suggest you consider a diamond with a Colour Grade of G to J. The reason is simple, diamonds in these colour ranges are still basically white, (Top Near Colourless) and the prices are 40% or more below the D, E and F Colours. Once mounted, they'll look fabulous and are used in most good quality jewellery today!

Similar savings can be applied to the diamond clarity grade. The technical Gemmological definition of an SI1 Clarity Grade is, "The Imperfection within the diamond can not be seen with the naked eye, but can easily be seen with the aid of a 10 X power loupe". Following this definition, if a customer purchases an SI1 Clarity Graded Diamond, they can save an additional 25% or more over the top clarity grades assuming all other grades, Colour, Cut, and Carat weight remain constant. The chart below does not include clarity grades below SI1 as we do not recommend diamonds below this grade.

Cut determines the sparkle and brightness so don't settle for a poor cut (or poor 'made') diamond. Learn what the specifications need to be for a great cut for your shape of diamond and then find the best value within those criteria. Again an 'Ideal' cut stone is 5% - 10% higher in price over a 'well-made' stone. Buy a diamond with a great cut, (or 'make') and you will be rewarded with exceptional sparkle and brilliance.
